Women’s health comes with a lot of opinions (and myths…), from well-meaning relatives to Dr Google to things we’ve all heard whispered in school bathrooms.
But here’s the good news: most of those “facts” aren’t actually facts at all.

This month, we’re cutting through the noise with some good old-fashioned myth busting. Clear, honest, science-backed information so you can feel confident, empowered, and in control of your health.

Let’s dive in.

Myth 1: “Painful periods are just part of being a woman.”

We’ve all heard it.
But repeat after us: pain that stops you living your life is NOT normal.

Severe period pain can be a sign of conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, or fibroids and you absolutely deserve support. No more brushing it off as “just how it is.”

Myth 2: “Hormonal contraception causes infertility.”

If this myth had a theme song, it would be “Here We Go Again.”
The truth? Once you stop most contraceptives, fertility usually returns quickly.
Your body might take a little time to find its rhythm again but contraception isn’t what harms fertility. Our Fertility Specialist, Dr I-Ferne Tan, will be able to help if you are struggling to conceive.

Myth 3: “Menopause = the end of feeling like yourself.”

Nope, not even close.
Menopause can bring changes, but you are not destined for years of suffering.
From hormonal therapy to lifestyle support, there are plenty of options to help you feel more like YOU again. Our Women’s Health Specialists can help you get there!

Myth 4: “Pelvic floor issues only happen after childbirth.”

If only it were that simple!
Pelvic floor symptoms can affect anyone, with or without kids.
Leaking, heaviness, or discomfort are signs your body is asking for support, not a reason to feel embarrassed.

Myth 5: “Any vaginal discharge means something’s wrong.”

Actually… healthy discharge changes all month long.
Different days, different textures – it’s normal!
The red flags to look out for are irritation, strong odour, or unusual colours. Otherwise, your body is just doing its thing.

Myth 6: “Normal blood tests mean nothing’s going on.”

This one can be so frustrating.
Many women’s health conditions don’t show up in basic blood work which means symptoms should always be taken seriously.
You know your body best, and your concerns matter.

Myth 7: “You need to wait until things get bad before seeking help.”

Nope!
You don’t need permission, a certain level of pain, or a dramatic symptom to reach out.
If something feels off, trust your instincts as early support can make a world of difference.

Why Myth-Busting Matters
